1H,1H,2H,2H-Perfluorooctyltriethoxysilane is a fluorine-based polymer that has a low surface free energy.

POTS can be used as a silane-based coating on poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) to synthesize a membrane for the removal of hazardous volatile organic compounds. Glass substrates can be modified with POTS to increase the contact angle for 3D reactive inkjet printing of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). It can also be used in the synthesis of superhydrophobic carbon nanotubes(CNT) hollow membranes for membrane desalination (MD) as eco-friendly products of fresh water. It is deposited on the roughened surface of titanium to render it superhydrophobic. POTS may be used as a component of fluorine modified ORMOCER (Organically Modified Ceramics) coating materials.

Mainly used as a surface modifier to form a transparent nano-layer film after curing, without affecting the appearance and light transmittance of the substrate; 

Used for the surface treatment of inorganic materials with active groups such as hydroxyl, carboxyl and oxygen-containing groups (such as glass, ceramics), and To the comprehensive performance of waterproof, oil-proof, anti-fouling, dust-proof, moisture-proof, insulation, and anti-fingerprint.

 It can also be used as an adhesion promoter between fluoropolymers and inorganic materials to increase the gap between fluoropolymers and substrates. 

Specific applications include: 

1. Water-repellent anti-fouling and anti-ultraviolet coating on the glass surface, such as the treatment of automobile glass;

2. Anti-oxidation on the surface of metals (copper, iron, aluminum, etc.);

How to use 1H,1H,2H,2H-Perfluorooctyltriethoxysilane:

Need to choose a suitable solvent for dilution according to the purpose, or mix some other ingredients to ensure that the molecules can penetrate to the hard, The internal structure of the porous inorganic substrate can achieve long-term protection.

1. The processed substrate (material) should be clean, dry, free of dust, oil, etc.;

2. Use suitable solvents, such as alcohols, petroleum solvents, aromatic hydrocarbons, isoparaffins or their mixtures to dilute to an ideal concentration of about 0.5-2% mass ratio, brushed or sprayed on the surface of the substrate. The prepared solution should avoid prolonged contact with air, and the container must be sealed; 

3. The waterproof and antifouling test of the processed substrate (material) should be carried out after curing is complete, generally after 24 hours. 

4. The formed waterproof and antifouling protective layer is completely invisible and will not cause optical damage to the substrate.

Reaction principle:

In the presence of water or moisture, the ethoxy functional group of this product will react with water and hydrolyze to form silanol groups which are highly reactive with a variety of inorganic substrates, and release ethanol as a by-product of the hydrolysis reaction; and fluorine-containing Alkyl groups can form a low surface energy coating on the surface of the material.

At the same time, this "double phobic" effect of hydrophobic and oleophobic can be obtained by many commercial fluorosurfactants and fluororesins, but the fluorosilane SCA-F13C8E has a unique advantage compared with them: it can be used in The surface of the material forms a two-dimensional and three-dimensional network structure, so it can form a coating with very stable physical and chemical properties on the surface of the material at a very low concentration. The thickness of this coating is often only a few nanometers.

Suitable materials for this product include (but are not limited to) glass, silica, quartz, mica, silica sand, standard sand, wollastonite, kaolin, talc and other substrates, fillers or fibers with silanol on the surface.
